The
Society was formed in 1971 to bring together people interested in model
engineering in Stafford and the surrounding area.
We
are a small friendly society with around 100 members of all ages whose
interests span the full range of model engineering activities, with emphasis on
live steam locomotives.
Our
track site here has a raised track for 2 ½”, 3 ½” and 5” gauge locomotives and
a ground level track for 5” and 7 ¼” gauge, complete with loading ramp,
turntable, locomotive and carriage sidings.
Staffordshire
has many connections with narrow gauge railways and the growing popularity of
modelling these in 16mm/ft scale has been recognised and a garden railway with
32mm (0 gauge) track has been constructed.
Our
latest addition to the site is a gauge 1 garden railway with 45mm track together with a boating pond. This
means that we can now accommodate locomotive of all gauges.
Membership
applications can be obtained from the Membership Secretary, 3 Millbridge Close Meir Park Stoke on Trent ST3 7US.
Members
can be found on site on Thursday and Sunday mornings all year. In the summer
months we meet on 6 Sundays for club steaming, please refer to the diary page for more details.
Visitors
are welcome at our running sessions and evening meetings. Boiler certificates
are required for any visitor wishing to run a locomotive. This applies to all
gauges.
We
are always on the lookout for new members, please come and visit us, you will
be made most welcome.
